Statement on asbestos tea room at The Canberra Hospital

Revelations that hospital staff may be forced to use an asbestos contaminated tea room should be addressed immediately.

At a time when the health risks associated with asbestos are known, I can see no good reason why Minister Fitzharris should brush this issue off.

Hospital staff and patients should not have to fear for their health and wellbeing when at the hospital.

Minister Fitzharris should also work on building relationships and morale among ACT Health management and workers, especially if Canberra is to be an attractive destination for health professionals.
